Reflection:
The artifact I am using for Standard 6.2 Reflection, is the Weebly Blog that began when I first enrolled in the ITEC EDS courses in the Spring of 2018. The purpose of the blog entries is to consistently reflect on the knowledge, skills, and experiences I learned at the completion of each ITEC course. I created the Weebly Blog and updated it with reflections and assignments while in the ITEC EDS program.
Standard 6.2, Reflection, establishes the expectation for regularly evaluating and reflecting on professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen the ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences. I used my weebly blog to regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions. Each course stretched me as a continuous learner and at the end of each course I was able to reflect on what I learned and how I was able to use what I learned in my professional practice. During this portfolio completion, process I am very appreciative that the Weebly Blog was assigned in this program, because I have been able to review my blog entries and I am amazed with how much I have learned and how my disposition as an educator/coach has changed and grown. Reflecting on my accomplishments in this program by looking through the blog and noting the elevator speech, my podcast, my first Adobe Spark Video, my research into collaborative and emerging technologies and my WebQuest have me awestruck.
As educators and coaches, we do not often have the time or take the time to reflect on our practice and dispositions. During this experience, I learned that we should blog or journal or in some manner consistently reflect on during our careers. I have never been a person who kept a diary or journal, but now I see the benefit in doing so. I learned that reflecting on my dispositions and skills in the past helps you see how much you have grown and increases my desire to continue learning and growing. The artifact could be improved by me providing more details on all the skills and experiences from the courses.
The work that went into creating the Weebly Blog impacted faculty development and student learning. I learned many skills in this program and I shared some of them formally and informally with my colleagues. This faculty development can be assessed by teacher evaluations. Student learning was impacted by my using skills from the courses in my class and student benefited from this process. Impact on student learning can be assessed via teacher rubric, formative or summative assessments.
